German Tourist Disappeared on a Tropical Island . . . and He May Have Been Eaten by Cannibals

You don't hear about many people being DEVOURED BY CANNIBALS in 2011.  But there's a first time for everything, right?

40-year-old Stefan Ramin from Hamburg, Germany was on vacation last month, and went to a tropical island in French Polynesia called Nuku Hiva.

(--The French Polynesian islands are in the Pacific Ocean, about two-thirds of the way from South America to New Zealand.)

Stefan disappeared.  And after rescuers searched for him for weeks, they ended up finding his clothes, bones, and some charred human remains in a remote valley on the island.  It's now suspected he was killed and eaten by CANNIBALS.

Nuku Hiva DOES have a history of cannibalism . . . but that was a century ago.  So no one thought cannibalism was still being practiced there.  The local police and the German foreign ministry are investigating.
