TWINKIES: Are They Gone Forever?
With the closure of Hostess Brands, such snack-time favorites as Twinkies, cupcakes, Ho-Hos, Suzy Q's, Donettes and Ding Dongs will be disappearing from store shelves.
But probably not for long! Though the Hostess Company has closed, it is actually going to be liquidated, with the recipes and trademarks for its popular products being sold to another company that will revive them before long. So no need to stress, we'll get those nummy yummy twinkies back.
Here are a few fun facts about Twinkies:
- The Twinkie was invented in 1930.
- The bottom of a Twinkie is actually the top during baking.
- Twinkies cannot last 25 years. The shelf life is actually less than a month.
- The original filling was banana creme. It was changed during World War Two due to banana rationing.
Did you even care that Hostess and their snacks were going to be missing from store shelves? I honestly wouldn't have noticed...I'm more of a Litte Debbies fan. LOVE their swiss cake rolls!
