REVIEW: Snake Dog IPA

by Jay Morris

Snake Dog IPA

All of my IPA drinking friends seem to have a couple things in common. Each of them love DogFish Head 60 minute IPA   and they love Snake Dog IPA  from Flying Dog Brewery. Flying Dog was founded as a brewpub in Aspen Colorado in 1990, it moved into a full brewery in 1994, and are now brewing beer in Frederick Maryland.

Snake Dog IPA (ABV 7.1%, 60 IBU) is a orange/amber colored American ale. It looks great at the pour, with a nice foamy head they stayed for at least half the glass. What got me about this beer is the drink ability. The hops (Warrior and Columbus) aren't overpowering. They really work in concert with the rest of this beer. Snake Dog IPA taste include a touch of grapefruit, a bit of floral, and even an early taste of malt. I must admit on this one my IPA drinking friends were right, Snake Dog IPA is a very drinkable, and delicious beer. My only regret is I didn't listen to them sooner.
